    iHome+Sleep 2.0 has been released!

We’re happy to announce the availability of iHome+Sleep Version 2.0. We are fast approaching 1 million total downloads of iHome+Sleep, and so we are getting tons of great user feedback, and are working hard to make iHome+Sleep the best sleep management app for iOS. This release included many design decisions, some easy, some difficult. We hope you find that it’s a big improvement after using it for a week or so.

We’ve retained all the major functionality from 1.x, and have added a new look & feel, as well as some exciting new features, such as:

    • Now a universal app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.
    • A total design refresh with a new look & feel, including simple navigation system
    • Overhauled alarm manager focused on usability and performance.
    • A new “standby” mode home screen with minimal clutter, just tap the clock to enable it.
    • Retina display graphics for iPhone 4 and the new iPod touch
    • Support for background alarms (on iOS 4.0 or later, not iPad).
    • Support for the new iHome iA100 Bluetooth alarm clock speaker system with iPad docking and Studio Series performance.

A few comments about the app

    • Please note that the background alarms feature uses new multi-tasking features of iOS, so we are among the first to make use of new hooks in the operating system. Your mileage may vary from iOS build-to-build, but know we are working hard to massage this feature into reality.
    • We were a little sad to make the nifty Alarm Cards go, they looked good, and offered something unique. Early feedback from some vocal users means we aren’t alone in missing them. But we admitted to ourselves that this didn’t mean it necessarily worked really well. What we do know is that the new list view is far quicker, and easier to maintain for power users. Which is also confirmed by many users, particularly those with older touches and 3Gs. Thanks for all the great feedback, users!
